How to Write a Story

Writing a stories, no matter what genre it falls have similar elements. Most of us are fascinated on how these write ups came up whether we have read them in the magazines, newspaper or just a good book. We have always wanted to create good stories that captivated our minds for years.

The secret behind all these can be summaried into a few basic rules.

One, reading is the most important tool for writers. Most discover great ideas and subjects from researches, but one big factor that reading contributes is learning about style and structure on the technical aspects of writing. Reading can also build inspiration to the story teller.

In the writing process, once research is done, and you've got an outline to follow, you can do your first draft using the following tips. Use simple language or avoiding big words that can be replaced with exact descriptive words -- avoiding the overuse of so, and very.

Use descriptive words as if how you experience the event using sensory words. How you feel, see, smell, hear and touch. A good example when you are trying to describe a place, a restaurant for example. Telling a reader what is happening makes it boring. Instead use your senses to describe it. In this part yoou can describe how the restaurant smells like as soon as you open the doors. It can be sweet, piney or scented. Imagine and feel. This can be very exciting!
