Bayani Sees to Upgrade Sole Government TV Network


Would it be possible for Bayani to turn the old, and only existing government controlled television station in the Philippines?

Formerly known as the People's Television Network, Inc. or PTV-4, and Maharlika Broadcasting System, Inc or MBS since 1974, the network was only funded for capital outlay once after the President Fidel V. Ramos appointed PTV Networks first board of directors. In the year 1992, it has been operating from it's generated revenues on its own. As RA 7306 stipulates that the government shall not appropriate funds for the operations of the Network.

Although at some point PTNI have earned Hall of Fame Award for Best Station and Most Balanced Programming in 1987 from the Catholic Mass Media Awards for two succeeding years, the network lost it's mandate to give quality educational, cultural, and public affairs programs.

The network was set not to compete with other television giants.

During a routine Sunday inspection with MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando in a mobile office, he mentioned that he planned to make NBN the strongest and most powerful network in the country... (to be continued)
